The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region (VNAHSR), one of the state’s largest skilled home health and hospice service providers, recently announced the Employee of the Year and HEALTH Matters Award Winners. Wendy Daley, RN, a hospice nurse, was recognized as VNAHSR’s Employee of the Year. Other award recipients were honored as part of the HEALTH Matters recognition program, an agency-wide initiative whose recipients emulate the core values of Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Leadership, Teamwork, and Helpfulness. HEALTH Matters award recipients are nominated by their peers for consistently demonstrating the agency’s core values. This year’s winners include John Campbell, recently retired hospice volunteer coordinator for Honesty; Lyane Adam-Murnaghan, Physical Therapist and Clinical Manager for Excellence; Janelle Cummings, Physical Therapist for Accountability; Kate Lawrence, RN, WOCN for Leadership; Amanda Van Dien, Case Manager for Long-Term Care and Claire Ericksen, RN in Pediatric Hi-tech for Helpfulness. In addition, Customer Service Representatives Eileen Allen and Patricia Andrews shared the agency’s Unforgettable Award.
Volunteers play a critical role in enhancing the end-of-life experiences of people facing serious illness and their families. Volunteers represent all life experiences and are drawn to hospice for a variety of reasons, but the defining characteristics that unite them are compassion and the desire to help others. Their many skills are matched to important tasks within our mission.
“The dedication and patient-focused commitment shown by our employees is an inspiration. All of our employees, no matter where they work in the organization, have the opportunity to have a positive impact on the care we provide our patients,” said Ron Cioffi, CEO of the VNAHSR. “We are honored that Allison and Juli join us in our mission and commitment to the health of our communities.”
The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region held its annual employee recognition dinner honoring staff for their many years of service and outstanding commitment to the agency’s mission. Employees were celebrated for reaching milestone years of service and highlighted employees for specific awards: the Employee of the Year, Unforgettable Employee and HEALTH Matters Award Winners.
