RUTLAND, VT (September 5, 2018)–Heidi Gillespie, BSN, RN a Clinical Manager of Children’s and Family Services at the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region has been invited to speak at the 5th Annual Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home-Visiting(MESCH) International Conference in Melbourne, Australia in October. Gillespie will speak on the role of home visitation programs for pregnant women in Vermont and the benefits of early intervention for healthier pregnancies, deliveries, and parenting. Also invited is Katy Leffel, BSN, RN from Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice in Barre, Vermont.

The conference brings together early childhood policy makers, research and practice leaders, managers, and practitioners from across the globe that are committed to improving outcomes for all families with young children.

The program, initiated in Australia, is a high-quality, nurse-led structured program designed to enhance maternal and child outcomes by providing prenatal and postnatal care for mothers and their babies. Vermont is the only State to participate in the program.

“We are thrilled that Heidi is joining so many influential leaders at the MECSH Conference,” said Ron Cioffi, RN, and CEO of the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region. “Heidi’s experience and leadership in caring for new moms and babies in Vermont will provide insightful information for conference participants. We are truly excited for this opportunity for Heidi to share her knowledge and bring back new insights from the conference.”
