Pediatric Home Health Care for Special Needs Children

Parents of special health needs and medically fragile children face a multitude of challenges. VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region offers medically fragile children with short-term or chronic medical conditions, care in the comfort of their own homes—within familiar and nurturing surroundings, and with the love and support of their families.

Each child and family is unique. VNAHSR will coordinate with your child’s medical providers to customize a plan of care matched to meet your family’s needs that will include a home health care team led by a registered nurse clinical manager, and may include nurses, home health aides, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and social workers. In addition to home nursing and therapy, VNAHSR caregivers can provide personal care services to help children who need special assistance with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, exercise, and even playing.

Why Should I Get a Flu Shot?

No year is a good year to get the flu, but this year with COVID-19 taking its’ toll on the country-it’s especially bad. The flu vaccine is still the most effective way to prevent the flu or help reduce the severity of the flu. Vaccinations have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illnesses and hospitalizations.

September and October are the best times to achieve immunity throughout the flu season.

It takes two weeks after your shot to achieve full immunity, so keep away from anyone who has flu symptoms.

Who should get a flu shot

We are accepting appointments for individuals 18 years and older.

Will a flu vaccine protect me against COVID-19?

No, Flu and COVID-19 are different diseases caused by viruses in different families. However, the flu vaccination can help you to reduce your risk from the flu, and also to help conserve potentially scarce health care resources.

Viruses are constantly changing and annual flu vaccines may be updated from year-to-year based on the most current research.

Though development of COVID-19 vaccine is underway, a vaccine is currently unavailable.

What Precautions are you taking at your clinics?

To protect individuals, appointments will be staggered and equipment will be disinfected between uses. Patients will be pre-screened prior to their appointment through a series of questions about the patient’s health and any potential signs, symptoms or exposure to COVID-19 and will be temperature checked at entry before their appointment. Additionally, staff will utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and clinic attendees must wear masks.

Payment

We accept Medicare/Medicaid, MVP and BlueCross BlueShield Insurances for payment. Please bring your card to your appointment. If you do not have a participating insurance plan, payment will be accepted by check or credit card.

Cost of the Vaccine

The cost of the vaccine is $78.00 for High Dose (individuals 65 and older) and $38 for Quadrivalent (individuals under 65).
