The Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Southwest Region is offering a one-day class for those interested in becoming hospice volunteers. Training will be held on Saturday, April 6th from 8am – 4:00pm in the Seminar Room at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Training is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required.
Nicolette R. Beagle, RN, CHPN, COS-C Hospice Clinical Manager and Alexandra Sands, RN Hospice are recipients of the 2019 Betsy Gardner Scholarship, an initiative of the Madison-Deane Education fund that provides educational funding for hospice and palliative care nurses.
With an eye towards improving care for individuals with chronic illness, reducing repeat hospitalizations and improving patient outcomes, the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region recently upgraded their in-home telemonitoring technology so that patients utilizing the system can get a check-up every day in the comfort of their homes. Telemonitoring provides daily nursing support in addition to traditional in-home visits. The new monitors are from Honeywell, a leading life care solution that creates advanced remote monitoring solutions that help improve patient lives with better clinical outcomes and reduced cost.

The Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of the Southwest Region (VNAHSR) today announced that it has been named a Top Agency of the 2018 HomeCare Elite, recognition of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. For 13 years, HomeCare Elite has annually identified the top 25 percent of Medicare-certified agencies and highlighted the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. The VNAHSR has been recognized 10 times in the past 13 years.
In front of a sold-out crowd at the Paramount Theatre, Praveen Keshava, MD, owner, and ophthalmologist at Central Vermont Eye Care and Sam Ho, a dance instructor at Cobra Gymnastics and Dance Center were presented with the Mirror Ball Trophy as the Judges Choice at the eighth annual Dancing with the Rutland Stars.
