VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region Partners with Stratton Foundation in Feed the Community Initiative

The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region is pleased to partner with the Stratton Foundation, a community-based non-profit organization caring about the health and welfare of children and families in Southern Vermont. Through the Stratton Foundation’s “Feed the Community” initiative and outreach in times of crisis, the agency received $2000 in gift cards for groceries and gas. The cards will be distributed to patients served in Arlington, Danby, Dorset, Manchester, and Sunderland.

VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region Partners with Pajama Program to Help Children Get Better Sleep

The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region is pleased to partner with Pajama Program, a national nonprofit organization that promotes and supports a comforting bedtime routine and healthy sleep to help children thrive. Pajama Program donated 110 sets of pajamas and age-appropriate books for children who receive nurse home visits in either Strong Families Vermont or Children’s Integrated Services.  Both of these programs are part of the agency’s Maternal Child Health division, which provides various services from prenatal education through early childhood.

VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region Welcomes New IT Director

Kieran P. Keefe of Rutland, VT, has been named Director of Information Technology at the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region, one of the largest home health and hospice providers in the State.

Keefe brings a depth of experience in Information Technology systems. Most recently, he worked at Casella Construction as an IT specialist with deep experience in service, support, and infrastructure configuration.

VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region Offers Flu Shots

The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region (VNAHSR) is offering flu shots by appointment only beginning Thursday, September 30. While the flu shot only protects against influenza and not COVID-19, health experts are encouraging individuals to get vaccinated against the flu to mitigate the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death.

The staff of the VNA & Hospice has been on the front lines of the pandemic providing compassionate care to patients. We are so grateful to the countless participants for their continued support of this event that raised $1900 last year for this vital organization.

Sara C. King Named Chief Executive Officer

The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region, (VNAHSR), one of the state’s largest providers of skilled home health and hospice services, announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Sara C. King as Chief Executive Officer she will replace Ron Cioffi, RN, CEO who is retiring in June. King will assume the leadership role as of April 5, 2021.

Update on the COVID-19 Vaccine for Homebound Patients

At the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region, we are following guidelines set by the State of Vermont that determine when Vermont residents are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Right now, the vaccine is available to those who are 75 and over.

We urge all eligible Vermonters to sign-up for your vaccine and visit healthvermont.gov/myvaccine for the latest information. If you are unable to do so online, please make an appointment by calling 855.722.7878.

VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region CEO Ronald J. Cioffi, RN Announces Retirement After 40-Year Career at Agency

Ronald J. Cioffi, RN, and CEO of the VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region (VNAHSR), one of the state’s largest providers of skilled home health and hospice services, announced plans to retire in June of 2021.Cioffi, a registered nurse, and native Vermonter joined the VNA (then known as the Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association) in 1980 as a dialysis nurse. In 1992 he was promoted to the Chief Executive Officer role and oversaw the agency through unprecedented financial growth and an expansion in areas served and breadth of services.

VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region Recognizes Employees of the Quarter

The VNA & Hospice of the Southwest Region (VNAHSR) named Sharon Davis and Jenifer Dufresne as the Non-Clinical Employees of the Quarter and Celina Fuller, Speech Language Pathologist as the Clinical Employee of the Quarter.
Employees of the Quarter are selected from nominations submitted by colleagues and acknowledge employees who go above and beyond their regular job duties and best reflect the agency values of honesty, excellence, accountability, teamwork, leadership, and helpfulness.
